When we moved to the United States, we quickly realized that the flour tortillas available in stores tasted very different from the ones I grew up with in Sonora, Mexico. Whenever we visited home, we made sure to bring back plenty of “Tortillas de Harina” to share with friends and family in the US, who always raved about their delicious flavor and texture.
We had always dreamed of starting our own business where we can use my background in software engineering and experience in manufacturing systems and Rosy’s expertise in human resources to make it happen so we decided to combine our passions and create a tortilla brand that would bring the authentic taste of Sonora to the US market.
After months of experimentation and countless taste tests, Tortillas de la Abuela was born. Made with a recipe passed down from my grandmother, these tortillas are unlike any others on the market. They’re made with vegetable shortening, which gives them a unique flavor and texture that customers can’t get enough of. We take great pride in our product and we know that every tortilla that leaves our kitchen represents our family’s legacy and our passion for creating something truly special.
We hope Tortillas de la Abuela would soon be found in restaurants and customers throughout the US and are excited to see what the future holds for our business….
